Really bad fuel consumption

Since replacing my MAF last week, my mpg hasnt gone above 22mpg (previous to that it would be 27+). Around town its about 19mpg and motorway @ 70/3k its returning 22mpg.

Any ideas? It was serviced 4k ago by a main dealer - fluids are all spot on. VAGCOM is reporting nothing wrong. Logs look fine.

Id take a guess at the Pre Cat Lambda probe mate.

Been having the same problem myself. It didnt show on vag com till about 2 weeks ago. Replaced it yesterday. All back to normal 27+ mpg

Yeh problem was sorted altough ive now sold the car!!

Could be the cars going through adaptation now the knackered MAF's been replaceed. Should be ok again in a week or so I'd guess dependant on mileage

Ive put at least 2000 miles on the car since replacing the maf and its still the same
