Rattling Tailgate

Hi

The tailgate on my 54 Ibiza seems to be rattling, it has had this before and was fixed under warranty I believe there is some adjustment that can be done. I have looked at adjusting the latch on the tailgate and the boot. I have tried adjusting the boot part however this does not seem to have made a difference as there seems to be little adjustment.

Should I be adjusting the lock on the tailgate itself if so how can i get at this, I cant work out how I remove the interor trim. There are some bolts behind the light panels but the trim still seems to not want to come off.

Howdo mate. I took the rear wiper off mine and i broke two of the clips that hold the boot trim on, And going over big bumps in the road you can hear it rattle.

You need to under all the screws on the boot trim. i think there are two behind the light covers, One inside the hand where u pull the boot down and two others at the bottom i think.

But you really really need to pull on the trim to get it off. When i did mine it felt like it wasnt gonna come off and i was gonna snap the trim. But it does come off. Just becarefull that you dont snap the little metel clips as they will rattle the boot trim.

I have had a quick look and when opening and closing the tailgate there is no noise. I think the tailgate may be slighlty loose, some threads have said that the Leon has adjustable rubber stoppers. These seem to be in a fixed position on the Ibiza. Is there anyway to adjust the locking mechanism? I dont remeber the boot rattling when it is full so I guess this is things pushing against the tailgate stoping the movement in the tailgate.
