Rattle rattle rattle!

I seriously love my cupra, it is absolutely brilliant ...... however there are a couple of gripes i have with it:
1) Squeaking brakes, but im gonna try the copper grease on the back of the pad trick.
2) RATTLES!!! I really cannot stand any rattles at all, especially not from a car with such a nice interior. And the plastics are so hard and the general ambience so quiet, that any rattle is LOUD. I had one coming from the boot (which turned out to be the boot catch, so i greased it up a bit and now its fine), but the dash ones are by far the most annoying. I have one coming from the little plastic insert around the dash which is very annoying, ive taken it off and taped up the cables, etc.. behind it but no joy. Also I have one coming from the passenger airbag compartment and the passenger sun visor, but these arent as annoying as the dash one.

I think tomorrow is going to be taken up by dismantelling the dash and inserting bluetac, tape, paper, etc... to try and stop the rattles! Coming from my last car, a Punto HGT............a FIAT!! which didnt have any rattles whatsoever, I will not be 100% happy until ive murdered all of them in the cupra

check your glove box there should be a rubber surround on the catch on the inside of the door, ive lost mine so it rattles through vibrations, need to get a new one.

I have the same rattle of the black plastic bit around the dials, pushing on it seems to stop it for a short while.

silicone lube, halfords sell it, give it a squirt, not too much mind, it disperses a bit like alcohol so gets everywhere with very little used.

Indeed, i find myself driving on uneven roads just holding the dash surround! As for the silicone, i will definitely try that. Its just when you remove the dash surround, theres a gap straight through to the head unit / heater wiring, etc... There isnt a very big area at all that the dash surround is in contact with. I will experiment tomorrow

i had a rattle in the boot. turned out to be the parcel shelf, i also have one in the dash, (coin holdeR) a bit of numberplate foam pads stopped that, now i ave one from the left hand side of the dash. looks to be coming from behind the airbag? i will try as said above, the glovebox rubber stopper. might be missing. if it wasnt snowing here id go out and try it!

I have both the one from the dial surround very annoying! but also from the boot - (bootlid) even more annoying! going to take a look now infact!

Ive just had the whole dash apart, lined most of it with silicone lube and double sided tape and put it back together! Went for a drive and it was fine until i pulled back into my road and it did it again!!!! I think im going to let it beat me for the time being

It isnt anywhere near as bad as a french car (no offence!), its just one really annoying one coming from the plastic section in between the head unit and the dash. Taken it apart but nothing can stop it apart from pushing hard on it. I think its actually coming from in the plastic

For the squeaks coming from around the stereo try the sticky taped velcro and just use the furry stuff not the plastic hook stuff.

Just got a rattle off the drivers seat to sort out, oh and get rid of the tapes.

I had the squeak / creak around the speedo and dash area done under warranty.

Here's what they say they did.

" Investigate problem with squeaking noise from steering wheel / dashboard, carries out checks to find fault with dashboard rubbing against bottom of windscreen & bulkhead area. Carried out alterations to stop noise, checked operations all ok"

This was in november last year.

Though it doesnt actually say what they did, it should help you find the problem

Im paranoid now, just going to see if there any other's from the front.

i have a bloody rattle coming from the back of me car sum where, eaither the boot lid of the parcel shelf! if its the boot lid what can i do to stop it? its driving me made!

another thing that is really starting to get to me is my creeking seats! everytime i pull off or stop they creek and move! any1 else had this problem with there seat! i think i may need to replace the plastic runner bits!

how do you remove the dash peice above the stereo which curves around to the top of the speedo? I removed the stereo the other day beleiving it would then allow me to remocve the hazard switch, then the heater vents and then some screws retaining that section but i couldnt get the hazard button section out

I have the exact same rattle coming from the dash surrond and i often find myself holding it to. So anoing....

I get a very loud and annoying squeeking coming from the centre console near the gearbox.. it drives me nuts especially when the m4 motorway isn't exactly smooth... ended up sticking tissues inbetween the plastics..
