There is a rattle coming from the front drivers side of my wifes Alhambra. I think its the ARB bushes or the end link? Not too sure but GSF have the links for £9.50 ea but do not stock the bushes. Is it more likely to be the links?

Drop links

Thanks Fredt, GSF said its the drop links that go not the bushes, thats why they only stock the drop links. Local stealer has quoted me about £190 to do it so it will have to be a DIY job I think. Do Haynes do a manual for the Alhambra? Might as well get one.

Haynes manual? not specifically for the Ahambra but for the Galaxy yes! but only for the pre 2000 Mk1 model as the majority of the runnung gear is the same it's a worth while investment, that and a copy of Fords TIS, (dealer workshop manual on cd or dvd) or the VW equivellent ... both available on Ebay

Hi, Links are really easy to replace. Two Nuts on each and off they come.
Might need a little wire brush, as the threads get a bit dirty over time which makes getting the nuts un done a bit of a mare. but still not a bad job to do...
£190 - dealer is having a laugh - only takes 20 minutes to do on a ramp with seized bolts too!!
Hope you get it done ok.
Jochen.

like previously stated there an easy enough joc you can even do them with the wheel still on.
it will most likely be the drop link as ive replaced many on the galaxy, and only ever replaced 1 bush and the car had done 126k miles lol

Mine started as a hollow metallic rattle when driving over bumps etc...

It stansmitted a little through the steering abit but initially it was the noise that I noticed.

And before anyone asks, no, still not done them

Rattle also over bumps

Hi all

New member here. 1st time on. Forum has a wealth of information!!I have learned so much to date.
My 2000 Alhambra has a rattle over bumps. Drop links maybe. Can these be examined to confirm if needing replaced or do I just go ahead?

Exactly the same on mine. It turned out to be a loose wire. If you look in the door frame where the wires go into the car from the door (black plastic cylinder thing). Give them a tug and see which is loose.

Mine was a brown wire. Easy to fix with a length of wire and a small hole in the door near the plug. Solder the length onto the loose wire, and the other end into the brown wire on the other side of the door in the car and hey presto...

Hi granny

I concur with my colleagues on Seat Cupra net. Drop links require replacement. I changed mine and the car was considerably quieter. No more rattles.
