Random water

This is a bit of a mystery to me so any help/ suggestions will be appreciated......

We have a 02 V5 170 and its been pretty good so far. However today hubby was panicking as he thought it was leaking oil. Ive been under the car and its leaking water (thankfully no oil!) but I cant for the life of me figure out from where. Its not got screen wash in it so its not from the reservoir and the felt heat shield is wet at the bottom and u can see the water on the sill behind it. Its not rained (for once) and Ive not taken it thru any puddles or fords.

The only thing I can think of is the air con/ climate control?

Thanks guys

purified and it's probably the aircon evaperator discharge

if it's sort of sweet 'n' sticky it'll be coolant

its not sticky cos I rubbed it in my fingers...... hmmmm that'll be the aircon then. Is that behind the heat shield? Do I need to join hubby in worrying or will it be ok (or have I got to go on the game to pay for an expensive repair lol.... replacing the cat convertor cost me £300 last month)

Thanks hon

oh thank u! Hubby stresses over anything going wrong as we're broke. Personally after my dubs I tend not to panic unless anything actually falls off lol!

Strangely enough I have never had any drips from my aircon on the V5 although I have on most other cars I have owned

BTW What are your 'dubs'

While the term originated with the original Beetles and camper vans, I've heard it used for any Volkswagen, shortened to 'VW' or 'veedub'.

As for the water leak, try not using the aircon for a while and see if things dry up. Personally I limit the aircon use, especially when the fuel computer shows how much petrol it needs to run!!

Hi guys, sorry for the long absence- I got laid off and have been looking for work.

The dripping stopped. We never did really get to the bottom of what caused it but hey Im happy aslong as it not doing it lol!

In answer to the dubs I used to have a 74 beetle and a mk1 passat that was my pride and joy. Im thinking of a new dub too once Im settled in my new job but we'll still have the Toledo!
