race cams on a gti 8v?

it wont pass emissions with too "racey" a cam in there.

yeah it is, its soon to have a cat back system and a k and n panel filter , what im wondering is that i could put a golf cam in there and get 5-10 bhp for not alot of money or save up and get a proper race cam and maybe get 15bhp just dont know which i should do...
