Quick Vag Com question.

Hey guys. I've recently had my Toledo scanned and it found a few faults. The guy took it for a test drive, took it back to the garage, did something, and only one fault remained listed.

My question is, what did the mechanic do to erase the codes? One of them was "Blocked ECU". On the 2nd test drive it no longer said "Blocked ECU." How come? What did he do? If he just erased the code does that mean the ECU is still blocked but isn't showing up anymore because he deleted it?

I'm a complete novice when it comes to diagnostics so am in need of some expert help, ie you guys ;)

Many thanks in advance.

With Vagcom all fault codes can be checked and then deleted. It may have been a fault that existed from a previous problem and the part/problem was fixed, but the mechanic neglected to clear the fault code. If the faults are cleared and then the car is driven, the fault code will re-appear if the fault remains, but if the fault is fixed the fault code should not return.
