I posted on friday about my side airbag on the driver's side going of after a minor touching of a curb and was trying to find somewhere with vag-com to reset the power steering so I could at least drive the car see here, anyway I was wondering if just reseting the ecu by disconnecting the battery would get the power steering working again, anyone know? I rang Seat this morning and the guy on the phone told me the power steering wouldn't work until the side airbag was replaced which I thought was strange.
Any help or advice appreciated.
And does anyone know the cost of getting a side airbag replaced?

Need an ID-ten-T form
There will also be a fault code for crash detection. Wouldn't disconnect the battery, I would recommend finding someone with Vag.com and clearing the codes 1 by 1.

I did the same thing awhile ago, cleared all my codes execpt the air bag, steering worked fine after.

Side airbag was around £1000 mark for me to replace it, but a month went by and I had an accident, and then it was sorted over the insurance claim.

Cheers, looks like it's going to the dealer then, I've tried finding other places with vag-com, not that easy!

Took my car down to a local stealers, told them what I needed and asked them to get to back to me with a price, £1300 to get airbag and power steering sorted, an absolute rip off, I'm sure I've seen threads on here with people getting 2 airbags done for that. They've also charged me £60 for diagnostics, even though I told them exactly what needed done when I dropped it off, if I'd known they were gonna charge that I wouldn't have bothered leaving it with them, help!
