On the 2.0 8v, when the cambelt is due to be replaced is it always a good idea to do pulleys etc at the same time?

Is so, roughly how much would all parts for the job cost, and how much time would it take my mechanic mate to do?

Thanks, Damian.

There's no F in Quality..
I DIY'd my cambelt on my 2.0 8v, and it took me 2hours to change the cambelt any tensioner ;)

Up to you if you want to change the pulleys.... most of them have to come off anyway to change the belt, so not alot of extra work to do, it's just the cost.

I picked up my cambelt kit for about £60 IIRC

no need to change the pulleys unless they are wrecked, which is highly unlikely, just the cambelt and tensioner need changed

Agree with pulley comment, although its a good idea to get a set of the hex allen key type bolts that secure the pulley, as they tend to round off in the centre.

My local mechanic did the job in less than an hour. One thing though, make sure the garage know how to line it up properly, most do not know that the 8v has to have the distributor pulley mark alligned with the crank pulley mark. If its out it will not run right.
