Question: What is a good replacement Stereo for my Leon mk1?

Hi this is my first post here. Im getting older so a diesel would do nicely. I just bought a Seat Leon 2000 model TDI 110hp version. It has been nicely modified with original Cupra R styling, Audi RS4-II wheels and has been optimized to around 140hp. The colour is silver. It replaced my old Peugeot 306GTi6 as I needed 5-doors and wanted more modern look and feel.

Ok, I have some questions for you guys.

The car is 100% standard with what I think is a full-spec extras (sports leather with memory etc.. etc..).

First question, the original stereo is still fittet, with a casette-player in front, and a 6disc changer in the glovebox. I did search for how to remove the disc-changer, but as I can see out of the pictures, the glovebox without disc-changer is still the same with two rooms, right? I would like to have one big room as "normal". Can anyone confirm or not please.

Second, I did not found any remote control of the original stereo neither on the steering wheel or other handles, which surprises me quite a lot since the car is loaded with factory-exstras. Is it true that there was no option for this, eventually, is it possible to buy and fit such equipment?

Third and last question, I wonder what kind of replacement stereo that would look nice. I need bluetooth and iPod support. Suggestions very welcome!

?!?!

Unfortunately even if you remove your cd changer you will still have the glovebox split into 2 sections. You can buy a little cubby hole to fit where the changer currently is but thats it.

I'm not sure any leons came with stereo remote controls. A few had on board computer controls and some had a link witht he stereo so that the station is shown in the clocks, but these are relatively few and far between (on the 110 at least).

It seems odd that with the other options it wouldn't have been added unless you couldnt get it?

Also, I dont know if your european spec/options differed from ours.

Finally re the radio, there are loads and loads and loads of choices. I have a Kenwood which is good but I would say the Alpines are probably slightly better!

I have the display in the middle between the speedo and rpm says what radio station etc.. I guess that one will be dead when connecting a 3rd party stereo, am I right? And yes, the car is bought new in Norway and has tons of extras. Some of the specs:

Rain censor with adjustable sensitivity, electrical sports full leather with memory, climate control, all windows electrical, engine heater and interiour warm-up (3rd party), original alarm, old handsfree system, partly removed (the mobile unit holder is removed, I didnt search for the wires yet, I guess cutted and hided somewhere under the dash).

That Alpine was super! But the colour?? Is it possible to have it with red lights to match the instruments in the car?

Ah, what I ment was 100% standard, except for the lowering and styling. Means the interiour are standard spec. Sorry for not make myself clear.

Yeah I think the interface will be dead, in theory you could hook up your own dependant on the aftermarket stereo outputs - if you find one which will have some form of output then linking the 2 might be possible, but would need a lot of research.

if you want steering control inputs you could rig up some from another car.youd need to find out what voltage inputs they require, etc in order to make sure they gave the right output to the stereo

hey guys.

Im about to take out my CD changer from the glovebox & replace it with the blanking box, to get some space back - the CD autochanger hasnt worked probably in 8 years anyway.

At same time, Im thinking now would be a very good time to replace the stereo as well for one that has an Ipod/iphone connector.

Can anyone recommend a good replacement?
