Question? - ESP Triggering over bumps (even when switched off!)

Can anyone tell me how the ESP system on the LCR differs from a TCS system? -
I have switched mine off over the last few days to try and see the extent of an intermittent trigger of my ESP system (flashes at me and sometimes puts the brakes on when going over bumps - slow or fast). It seems to feel like its the front right side of the car activating, but i'm not sure?

Could it be a dodgy wheel sensor? & If i have de-activated the ESP via the push button should it still operate?

Bl**dy annoying as I only have 6 months warranty left!

Any info appreciated, as I'm not holding out much hope for help from my dealer!

TCS and ESP are two different things. As I understand it, the Traction Control System is "OFF" when you've switched it off (light is on on the dashboard) but the ESP system remains active, but in a reduced sensitivity mode. Someone once said 30%.

It depends what you're doing over these bumps to get it to activate, could well be a dodgy wheel sensor (Overactive ABS at all? It's the same sensor), or it might just be dirty. Have you checked your tyre pressures?

Hi mate,

I'll check this weekend to see if the sensor is dirty and make sure there is nothing stuck in the sensor wheel holes that could be causing the problem, also i'll check the pressures (should be around 30-32 as i pumped them up a week or so back). I've not really noticed a problem with the ABS, and the problem has only been occuring since about 2 months ago when A) I fitted new tyres & B) I had my front pads changed (but might be coincidence).
The system is activating over bumps in the road and speed bumps etc on my route to and from work, which I have been travelling over the last few years, never doing it before.
It seems to occur at either a fast or slow speed but not all the time, only sometimes. It does not feel like the car is losing traction when it does it.

Will I be ok disconnecting the ABS/ESP sensor to check the connections etc?

Cheers

Update...........

I've been to the dealers and they agree with me that I have a 'problem' with the ABS or ESP. It may be due to a faulty caliper causing the brake pad to catch when cornering, or a faulty control module?

Its back in tomorrow for them to carry out some tests......

Fingers crossed..........only 4 months warrantly left!

Fingers crossed indeed! As you have highlighted this problem to the dealer within warranty, they will fix it for free even if it takes longer than you have left on the warranty, so don't worry about that.

Hopefully it wont take that long though! :)
