Question: ARB vs Strut Brace

Right then, this is something I mentioned in a topic in the Mk3 section a couple of weeks ago and never got a reply.

What are the main differences between an ARB and Lower Front Strut brace?

From my limited knowledge, I know that a strut brace keeps the struts parallel. So what is the ARB doin?

I checked wiki, and read these

Strut Brace (no results for lower strut brace)

A strut bar is designed to reduce this strut tower flex by tying two parallel strut towers together. This transmits the load of each strut tower during cornering via tension and compression of the strut bar which shares the load between both towers and reduces chassis flex......

Performance: Resulting from the improved chassis rigidity

Anti-roll bars provide two main functions. The first function is the reduction of body lean. The reduction of body lean is dependent on the total roll stiffness of the vehicle.....

To me, they seem to do almost the same/similar thing, just worded differently.

Also mentioned this to others and they seem to see where I'm coming from. Spoke to my bro and he reckons an ARB is a "money making scam". Don't agree on that.

Seeing as people on here have both, then surely there must be something between them. Unless people just added them both without thinking

Anyway, ramble over.

I would love for someone to give clear definitions between the two and which would be the best to get.

Cheers,

Strut brace stops the chassis from "twisting" ( bracing the chassis if you will )

Anti roll bars reduce body roll
