Evening guys hoping for a little help or advice to point me in the right direction or maybe even help others so here goes.

The car in Question is a 2007 Leon Fr Tdi 170.

The Girlfriend took the car to work the other morning to return within minutes complaining of a puff of smoke from under the bonnet passenger side scuttle panel. The car smelt real bad of burnt electrics that has now cleared. Ive had chance to have a look today and noticed everything connected to fuse 4 had stopped working so checked the blower fan to ensure it was spinning freely and powered it from an external source.

I decided to replace fuse 4 switched on the ignition I looked up and had a small cloud smoke again from under the bonnet/scuttle panel passenger side resulting in fuse 4 blowing again.
I can definitely smell something electrical burnt around the battery area and have currently taken out the battery to check all the wires for something shorting to the chassis.

I've run vcds and all it comes back with regarding to the climatronic is the high pressure valve open or short to ground and air con compressor.

Soo I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has had a similar issue or suggestions, or even able to point me in the direction of a wiring diagram to study and trace everything that's connected to fuse 4 in the hope of finding the fault.

Regards Ryan.

Hey mate, I'm new to the MK2 myself so I can't offer much help as of yet, though a quick search I've come across this thread, in there a member by the name of Asce states that their problem turned out to be the air con pressure switch.

The thread isn't long so worth a shot reading it, hope it helps mate! :)

Thank you for that I spent hours last night reading through the forum, kept going in circles with over 600 pages and not being able to use the advance search properly didn't help.

I'm going to head straight out and find this pressure switch as his symptoms are exactly the same, with the lcd back light not working and such like.

I shall report back shortly with any findings.

Regards.

Had a check of the wiring to the high pressure sensor and all appears to be fine, the smoke I get is the passenger side around the battery area close to the bulkhead. I'm currently out of fuses but I think my quickest way dare I say it is to pick up a few spare fuses plug it and and try and witness where it's coming from.

Success, upon purchasing a few spare fuses I place a fuse in left it a few seconds and there it was smoke and it was coming from under the plastic bonnet trim that houses the washer jets.

The passenger washer jet has two wires and they had fused together and melted the washer jet connection. So for now I've cut the wires sleeved them until I purchase a new part.

No more blowing fuse no.4 and everything is working as is happy days!!

I did learn something though in this process that the thread holding the wiper is left hand thread :s so that's my next job to fix the snapped stud lol

Sweet mate, I'm glad you managed to sort the problem in the end and as for my little search no worries, if I can help even in the slightest I will, it's always nice being able to help given I know so little haha! :D

Also thanks for reporting back too! :)
