Project Cornelious the Cordoba

Evening all,

Just ordered a set of lowering springs and uprated dampers.

Looking to invest in some wheels, been looking around but nothing's impressed, thinking of just sticking some OZ Superturismo GT's on there, but then it might just look like the Cordoba GT. Any one got any suggestions?

Can someone also tell me what offset I would be looking at for 16's with a 195/40 tyre?

I have a crappy set of 15's after market on there atm, but the offset seems to be wrong as the rear wheels sit in far too much for my liking, would prefer to have them on the edge of the rear wing. Is spacers the most sensible solution to that?

Cheers

I'll assume this a 6k shape Cordoba,

Rear track width is much narrower by along way, this is due to the front suspension being mk2 golf and mk4 polo rear suspension

Spacing out the rear track is a popular refinement as it brings the wheel to the arch and it improves the twitchy/nervous rear end,

20mm spacer (perside) is the norm for stock wheels, 15mm for wheels bigger than 6.5"

You'd be wanting an offset between et38 & 35

Cheers for the help F2 Stu.
managed to get it lowered in the end, however it looks a little wrong. pics to follow shortly.
I know need to go and get all the alignment checked etc as 90mph (on private roads of course) causes some rather interesting vibrations. I went in to one of the tyre fitters near me and they said that i had to look up the values i'm assuming he means camber, toe and caster. Is he being serious?

Is it worth investing in a strut brace, it's only on the Gmax shocks and springs taking it down 35-40mm.

Oh yeah i'm also getting some serious tyre screech when cornering hard, which i'm assuming is because of the difference in front and rear track widths.

Anyone got any websites for cheap wheels and tyres? i outright refuse to shop at halfords!

Cheers

yeah so i assume i have got the "6k shape cordoba" i've always known it as a mk2. is this right? The one with the polo front end, and curved rather than, for want of a better word, lumpy bumpers. I'm thinking of fitting 17's to it, would tell you what design but that would ruin the suprise.

Could anyone shed some light on what tyre/offset's fit correctly with minor/no rubbing. The people from the wheel places i've been phonin have been next to no help.

Cheers for all the help so far guys
