PROBLEMS! 1.4 formula sport

hey just wondering if anyone can help, 2 days ago i was driving home from work and smelt a burning smell.. very worried so i pulled over to take a look couldn't find a problem, smelt like burning plastic.. drove home and the smell went... driving home today and the smell came back but worse have the bonnet up theres no sign of buring or anything but when this happend 2 days ago i had an error light with the fault code 17604 now i know the meaning of it but not a clue what it acctually is? :S now for ages i've had problems with the battery dying but have put this down to having a big stereo..

does anyone have any ideas of what this could be because its confusing the hell out of me

anymore info needed let me know but i really want to get to the bottom of it

Have you lifted the lid off the fuse box and looked inside? Some threads here about fusebox melting and then burning . . do a search and you shall find... it may not be that of course...

did the smell appear whilst driving past a ... factory.. ? (or somewhere that might smell of burning plastic)

u say it appeared when driving home both times...


i am joking, but i could be right.

i've done the same route for 3 years i would have noticed a smelly factory.. lol have found it to be a 02 sensor causing me the problems.. and a plastic bag melted to the cat hopefully explaining my smell.. lol
