problem with clocks when i turn my lights on

Hi guys, i recently installed a Bosh HID conversion kit to my GTI.

I had a set on my 1.4 and the problem never happened..

Basically when i turn the light switch 2 places (dipped beam) every 2nd time i do it, the rev counter drops from idle > 0 then back to idle within a second.

My digital clock resets itself to 0:00 and the trip computer resets (so i cant check mpg)

Its not a problem, more of a pain in the f&%king ar$e!

Anyone able to shed any light?

very strange! Id check all the wiring! Is it the same set that you had on your 1.4?

driveforward had the same problem on his cordie tdi

at the time i suggested an extra earth or relay to the supply

try a pm and ask him what he did in teh end

ye added em to the mk3 lights after he did the front end conversion

they worked great but there was a few weird goings on after

i cant remember what he did to solve it though

I had exactly the same problem with mine when I first installed them. Basically every time I switched my lights on, my dash clocks would loose power for a second and this would make the memory erase itself. It was doing it for about the first 3 weeks, but after that it gradually stopped doing it, and now it doesn't do it at all. very weird. I'll try and find the thread I had posted about it later, but now its definitely time to go to bed,lol.
