Problem after installing rcd310

Hello.
I have just installed a RCD310 radio in my Altea 2007.
Everything works, except one thing.
I cant use the dial and end call buttons on the steering wheel, nothing happens when i push them. I can use volume and skip track buttons with no problem and the voice-control dail button works too.
I have the big mfd display in my car and bluetooth without music streaming.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

I'm not sure there's a solution I'm afraid. From what I can gather the RCD310 doesn't communicate in the same way as the original radio so the car doesn't understand what's supposed to happen. It's possible that there's a coding needed via VCDS, or even that the Canbus Gateway may need replacing for a newer model, but from what I've found it doesn't look good for the lack of control you're getting.

Do you have VCDS diagnostics and a laptop?

I have vdcs yes.
My canbus has part number 1k0907530k.
I dont understand why it should not work? I have heard of many people installing rns510 in their Altea.
Should i buy another version of the RCD310? The one i got has part number 1k0035186an

The RCD310 and the RNS510 communicate differently mate. I'm not sure what the issue is but they don't compare somehow.

You could try something. In VCDS. See this link and look down the page for "Vagcom / VCDS coding", but I think you're going to have trouble getting it to work from what I've read.

Sounds bad but I will try it tomorrow.
I cant efford a rns510, is there another solution for a cheaper oem radio? I think the Seat radio is boring, and the rcd is much nicer to look at and use.
And wich controller do i have to open, since the rcd not is navigation.

Sorry, completely forgot the no navigation thing. Ignore the comment about BAP, unless you can find it in the radio coding section in which case you could try it.

Unfortunately I don't have my Altea any more so I can't help. I'm in a VW Jetta now.

Radio controller is number 56 in VCDS, but I'm not sure it's going to be much help. You could have a look and see what options there are, but make a note of the coding before you start playing with anything.

I know Slagelse, just over the Storbaelt bridge. We stopped there a few years ago and had a look round Bilka.

The one you have is from a Mk6 Golf. The new one you're asking about is from a Seat Alhambra. Both of these communicate with the head unit via BAP which your car doesn't have, so you're never going to get it working fully I'm afraid.
