pre-facelift and facelift..difference..???

sorry if its been asked before! but im due my leon fr tdi 170 around september 2nd and flipping cant wait!! but i was wondering could some of u peeps show me a picture of the pre -facelift and the facelift front and back and the sides thx....

just curious to how they differ?? thx

Externally, you will notice the main changes being the bumper styling plus the rear lights.

of course i no what it looks like lol......i no its got cr,etc etc etc.......as u described...but i just cant tell the diffrence of the front and the rear end lol..of the preface and facelift..

On the rear the rear glass extends right to the edge of the boot pre Fl it has a thin body colour metal surround. The boot badge is also smaller on the FL model and more angular rear lights.

The front has different headlamps but is very subtle just a flatter bottom edge the grill is slightly wider and shorter on the FR/Cupra models. All FL models have different front bumpers interior stands out with a different stereo and new climate controls that are now rotary as opposed to push button on pre fl models.

If you put a pre FL and FL side to side the differences are obvious but in isolation much harder to see.

Finally under the bonnet the FL model has a newer canbus system from the Golf MKIV new common rail diesel engines now across the range and two new petrol engines in the form of the 1.2 TSi and EA888 engine out of the MKVI Golf GTi in the FR TSi 211.

i personally think the Pre-FL looked more agressive than the FL, its the area around the fogs that did it for me. But i think the wing mirrors are better on the FL.

Considering there are 3 years difference between these two cars, ie: facelift styling changes, plus the FR being distinguished as the more exclusive hot hatch version, the ACTUAL styling differences dont go far enough, hence the suggestion that the pre-FL stands out more / looks more aggresive.

The foglight shape of the current facelift FR has gone back to being squarer/more horizontal lines, like the pre-FL Stylance.

(plus in this picture, the FR is photographed at a lower, more 'aggresive' angle, which even works in its favour - bring the camera up a bit more, and they'd look even more similar). the FR does look more aggresive, but if you pulled the camera back, and down a bit, then the car on thr right wouldnt look so 'round'. It's cos the piccy is so close in, it makes the car look cute and friendly! lol.

Anyway, another point I was making is that the facelift FR/Cupra foglights, have been squared off top and bottom, and so look alot more tame, much like the pre-FL Leons... as per the piccy?

Dont also forget, the body, from the front of the windscreen, to the tailgate would be identical?
Unless they've lowered the roof on the FL, but doubt it.
