Have you checked the battery and charging system as I seem to remember that terminal 30 is just the +12V - having any issues with the supply and its voltage would certainly stop of cut out the steering power assist to let the car keep running safely on reduced electrical supply.?

Did you carry out all this work, or did a proper VAG workshop do all the repairs.

It has been done by a vag workshop but I have some experience with cars so I took it upon my self yesterday to check it out my self and I found this also a scuttle drain had been sat on top of the pump

Has that broken connector back shell meant that that connector is not now staying fully latched onto its connector on the pump assembly, if so water could have got in and be causing a high resistance connection.

I suppose that you could clean the male and female contacts and apply some silicon grease around the seal area and make up a retaining system using lots of cable ties. If you can find out the part number, you could order in a new connector from any VW Group dealership, then swop the contacts across to the new connector.

If you are worried about the contacts being tarnished etc, just spray an electrical cleaner into the socket pins and work the mate plug in>out>in etc a few times then let them dry off and spray with WD40 to try to keep a barrier layer on them, as well as trying to boast the water proofing seal with silicon grease.

I'm guessing that it is the other side of the connector to the latching mechanism that has broken off, and so it is still locking into place okay, if so do as I suggest using some cable tries to hold it down square into its mating connector.

Is the bigger power connector still okay, ie not broken?

The bigger connector is okay but sat on top of the power steering pump was water drain for the scuttle pannel I think the pump maybe getting water damaged I have now moved the drain away from the pump but I think it has already damaged the pump

regarding the error codes, since you already replaced the pump so many times it is possible it is the connector indeed, was the car involved in an accident?

a lot of water gets in that area when you wash the car or it rains, it is better to replace the connector, or it is extremelly likelly it will happen again...

I had an accident years ago, pump burned a year after the accident, fitted a new pump and it lasted 2 months, I replaced the connector after the second time and also did other things, been fine for 5 years now. It was the middle one. although I'm not sure it was because of that, it remais the prime suspect...
(I dont know if the connector was broken in the accident or when they replaced the pump the first time)

Also thank SEAT for this excelent design that it is asking for problems

the connectors need to be sealed or water will find its way inside throwgh the connectors, this is a pump I bought on ebay years ago and came like this...

From all the checks I’ve done it hasn’t been involved in an accident but the dealer I got it from are now replacing the pump yet again but this time with a brand new one from seat them selves

As you can see that connector is broken and it is the one on the left of the pump

I think the broken connector may be the answer for all your problems.

be aware that this is not sealed... if water gets there through a broken connector it will flow into the electronics of the pump, which sit right below it

Also is that your car that had the water under the bonnet

yes, it is my car, when it rains or you wash the car water gets there, so it is important that the pump is properly sealed

So you didn’t actually replace the pump just unbolted the connectors

no im talking about the wiring, dont dissassemble the pump! if water got in you will need a new pump, but you need to fix this connector so it wont happen again.

yes but it is not easy, is the connector just broken in the back? or also at the top?
