power steering pump problem

recently my power steering pulley sheared off damaging the pump so i replaced the pump with one from scrappy.It runs ok, but I still have no power steering. Do you think its just a dodgy pump or have I done something wrong?

i dont know about your problem but incase you need another power steering pump theres a thing on the net 24/7spares if you google it they sell 2nd hand parts quite cheap with a guarantee. they were breaking a couple of ibiza last time i looked

You tried tightening the belt power steering belt that runs the pump?

As mine was playing up took about 5mins to sort and not had a problem since.

bit obvious i know but ....put fluid back in?

also, when you change the pump, you need to fit new unions/clamps on it.

replaced mine on my old 1.4 Mk2, but 2 weeks later I noticed the fluid had drained away! Had to fit new connections and refil with fluid.

done all that, but still no joy. i think its just a faulty pump. it sounds like its running ok, plenty of fluid, belt tight, but no power steering.???
