Hey guys recently went and had the tailgate smoothed on my fr
and so far ive been just opening it by reaching in the boot and
pulling the lock lever.

What im looking for is a power point where i can wire in my solinoid
kit ive had a look at the fuse points up at the drivers door and can seem to
get any power through the spare ones available.

Any ideas why this is or am i better to use just a basic amp wiring kit as
a source?

I want it looking as standard as possible so its getting wired up to a hidden
vw passat boot switch which ill be mounting in the drivers dash pocket.

If anyone has done this before or got a mk4 with the boot smoothed already
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heres a pic of the tailgate now.

Managed to get it working with the power lead from an amp wiring kit
pops open no probs now enough for the boot lifters to raise it open.

not the easiest mod to do but works great fitted the passat switch to the
side of my drivers seat to give an oem look.:D

Do you have a flip key? Some people have the 3-button modules that open the boot... wonder if you could get that to work with the solenoid - that way not needing to open the drivers door. Just a thought :)
