Power Cable from...

Battery to boot

This maybe really obvious but I can't find anywhere to route an 80amp power cable from my battery to my boot to start my ICE install.

I did several searches and found various peoples installs but nothing explaining how they got theirs through

Its probably really obvious and its just me being stupid.
Also looked at the guides section on leoncupra.co.uk with no luck!

I have a 52 leon cupra 1.8 20VT....

If there is a thread that I've missed can someone point me in the right direction?

Cheers! :)

Dead easy mate ....

Not :)

IIRC

remove airbox to reveal the power cable run beneath.

Run cable inside this up to the scuttle

Remove scuttle and pollen filter and housing - there are two bolts, one to the top left of the housing and one to the bottom right - tucked almost under the wing / scuttle. Socket set with a bendy extension will let you reach it.

Grommet behind this enters the car behind the glovebox ( grommet is to the left of the pollen filter housing as you stand at the front of the car). Make sure you refit the plastic water guard at the front of the pollen filter housing otherwise it's a wet foot well for you next time it rains ;)

Remove glovebox and hang it in the footwell. Be careful you don't pull too hard as there's airbag wiring and glovebox wiring in there. The hex bolts should be fairly self evident where they are. I think 5 or 6 under the top lip of the glovebox unit, one at the very bottom right of the lower edge next to the centre console and a couple behind the dash blanking plate on the passenger side of the dash -

Grommet behind this is where the cable comes through. It's sort of up and to the right - once you poke a cable through you'll see where it comes out.

Run cable in the door sills to the rear of the car. Easy to remove, depending how thick your cable is you might need to remove the passenger footwell quarter panel, then the sill covers front and back and also the trim that covers the lower B pillar area.

Fairly simplified version but that's the basics of it.

Make any sense?

That's a real cut down post .... but it's the basics of it. If you get stuck there's more than a few of us who have been there:)

Picked this off Icecaverns site ( thanks pete)

Shows the cable run. The cover that sits on top of this is clipped in under the battery and can only be removed by lifting the airbox out of the way - if you pull it and use BFI it WILL snap ( mine did lol)

Mmm fused inside the car - not something i've ever done but then no car i've ever had has had that option. Personally i prefer to run direct from the battery using my own cable so that I know exactly what goes where.

That said Pete is definitely NOT a cowboy so there's probably no good reason why you can't run from there if you want to.

Right first off, don't run the cable under the pollen filter. It's too easy to end up with a foowell full of water.

If you look at the pic posted above the blue cable runs through a grommet in the firewall. If you get your hand down there you'll feel a big loom running through it, there's loads of spare nipples on that grommet and you can run 0awg ( thickest cable you can get ) through there very easily.

Always wire right from the battery. The panel under the stearing wheel isn't sufficient to run an amp. You can take a feed off those terminals ( fusing them remember ) to run a car kit etc but that's it. Never run high current items off them.
