howdy, earlier today i changed my oil and ignition leads (i purchased from seat). however . . . . upon my next trip down the road i got to third gear with no problems then felt a sudden lack of power and the engine warning light came on, i pulled over and killed the enine, restarted and continued my journey. the car has been ok since then, just wondering if this normal ?? or a fault on my half??

Did you get an air lock pocket in your oil filter (fill the filter up before you put it on the car) or not pop a lead on securely? chances are it was something that you laid hands on. If you're worried get on VAGCOM and check fault history.

poss limp mode linked to MAF

thanks mate, i placed a bit of oil in the filter prehand to attaching it, i recon it wasn't enough, i also had a slight rattle when revving the engine that i suspected to be the heat shield (i removed to get to the filter), but that has stopped rattling also. any ideas ?

I think that it was the concept of an air lock in the filter that caused the "jolly" postings, you might just have invented or discovered a new and most improbable situation as the pumped oil being deliverd from the pump will always successfully force any air out of a new filter. (sorry but true)
