Hi All + it’s nice to join what looks like a great Forum👍

I’ve had my Macan diesel 4.5 yrs from new + contemplating a change to a facelift Cupar Ateca with the Comfort & Sound pack as that seems to tick most of boxes I’d like. The Macan has been a great car/drive and still going very nicely but just fancy a change after that time (never kept a motor so long before) to something a bit smaller & nippier with a few more gizmos.

Looks to be some good discounts around - even on VZ2’s etc + will see in next few days as to whether I’ll be tempted.

Maybe try sit in one 1st. Big drop in quality from a Porsche
Thanks BigJase88 - not had chance to drive or even get inside one yet in current circumstances but will try and at least see with door open!

One interested in has black alcantara/leather trim and TBF doesn’t look bad when viewing through window👍

Seriously?

I'm a great fan of SEAT, but Jase has a point. The leather in is OK, but not up to Connolly standards and the 'Alcantara' isn't the real stuff either.
Definitely best to try to experience it first hand to make up your mind.
Welcome BTW ! (y):)

Edit - I'm doing Cupra a bit of a disservice there. Having checked the pricelists it does seem to be real Alcantara in the Cupra version. It's SEAT who have cheaped out with the Microsuede alternative.

Cheers for the info and welcome Seriously + I guess the final say on the interior colour/quality will be mainly down to the Good Lady!😄.
Personally, I’d love to see how it drives but also nice to hear views from anyone with experience of a Macan and the Cupra.👍

Although they may be similar equivalents on paper I would imagine they are very different cars in practice as it’s as moving from near the top of VW group brand hierarchy to much nearer the bottom. I’m sure the Seat is a great car but you should really sit in and drive one before making that sort of jump. Could either feel like a bargain or feel like a big step down. Only you can tell!

Our Leon Cupra 300 feels like a bargain Golf R/Audi S3 but many feel differently!

Cheers 300Cup, sound advice + brought to light some of thoughts I’ve been toying with.

Getting views of you guys has reiterated need to not act hastily (even if it means missing out on a Cupra that’s ready to go) + at least get into a Cupra and hopefully have a test drive before taking the plunge!👍

Thanks for everyone’s help + looks like I could be stuck with this for a while longer!

Nice! Is it just me or does the rear window and roof line of the Macan look a teeny bit like a MK1 Leon? Or do I need an urgent appointment at Specsavers?:geek:

Welcome mate.
Considered the Cupra Formentor VZ2 ?? Not as tall as the Ateca but plenty of room inside. The quality has definitely stepped up as well.

Never been a fan of diesel, but fair play for the better-than-usual choice of wheel/tyre sizes compared to what's seen on most Macans

Thanks jcbmally - the Formentor does look nice but I liked the extra height/shorter length of the Ateca + don’t think I’m ready yet to convert to a shorter gear stick and lack of physical air conditioning switches etc as per current set up👍

Cheers for that mate - love my 235/60/18’s for the bits of off reading I end up doing & moving to 245/40/19’s was going to be a risk - although I could’ve maybe got away with fitting 245/45/18’s on the Cupra.
PS...I’ve got a bit of stick sometimes for running a Porsche with mud flaps but find them useful + think the Cupra would be OK with FR ones🤔

You saying that Porsche copied the MK1 Leon :p

Now that's a lot of buttons haha how many do you actually use on a daily basis? Looks like under that flap at the bottom you've got the nuclear launch button.

Big fan of the CUPRA Ateca, what's the power stats comparison to your Porsche?
