Pop and smoke from under bonnet.

Was in the car yesterday, it was icy and it spun up in 2nd gear (had the traction control switched off), I shifted to third gear and there was a pop, it sounded like an intercooler pipe coming off. Got to my mates house about a mile away and switched the engine off to have a look. All the intercooler pipes seemed to be ok, so I tried to start it again, it's turning over ok, but there's smoke coming from down behind the engine somewhere and it smells like diesel burning.
Fuel leak? Anybody any ideas/had this problem?

Mystery solved, turbo has eaten itself, it's gonna be expensive

Yeah, always, and I'm not what I would call a lunatic, most of the time I'm quite sensible, only really go for it when we're following a rally or if someone annoys me.
