I believe that is called the charge pipe and although it can be polished by hand it would take a **** load of hard work. You are probably better off getting it done by a pro.

Have a look at James' recent thread where he had several bits polished for relatively little money.

Ive done 2 and there easy if you know how.

Take pipe off the car and use paint stripper to remove all the powder coating inc brackets.

Once its all removed use wet and dry paper to smooth the metal to a fairly uniform but dull finish.

Then use a metal polishing kit ( i got mine off ebay ) to polish the pipe untill you reach your desired finish.

Refit charge pipe and jobs a good un.

Took me 2 days to polish charge pipe and inlet manifold.

andi, how hard is it to remove the charge pipe, throttle body and manifold? do you need to replace any bits (like gaskets) when you do this?

I didnt take the inlet off, just polished it in situe.

The charge pipe is dead easy only 4 Jublie clips and 2 13mm nuts, you may need to replace the 2 smaller jublie clips but that is all as the original ones are not reuseable.

Which products did you use in the kit to get that finish. Just bought an identical kit from ebay though £21.
Not sure which bits I would need to use to get that finish though,.
