Please identify this part sat in oil

Hi all

First time posting here after purchasing a 1 owner 2019 Leon Cupra, I have generally been loving the ownership so far and it does everything I want in a hot hatch.

It's gone full Seat service history but I decided to get the DSG service done at 44k for peace of mind, I also noticed the vaq diff needed doing so that was done at the same time at a local vag specialist.

I have since learnt about the common coolant issues on these engines so I am keeping a close eye on mine, I was poking underneath the car and bonnet and couldn't spot anything obvious but the front end was oily in places ( I suspect gearbox or diff oil has been spilt and wiped away) however I did spot this random part sat in oil. Anyone know what it is and should it be like this?? It looks exposed

That looks like an engine/gearbox mount/bush with some oil on it from when they removed the filter.

I think the filter is in the circular silver ribbed bit (in your first photo) so likely to have made a bit of mess on removal.

It looks tight, but might be worth trying to get a rag in there to wipe the oil up and check it after a little while to see if stays dry.

best thing to clean that up is brake cleaner. Get spraying down there and it will all be cleaned out.

That looks like the top of the dog bone mount that people often change for a stiffer one.

Most pictures of it are from the bottom.

Cheers all I knew I had seen it before which must have been when I was reading into upgrading the engine mounts. That has put my mind at rest

I'd clean it ASAP. Oil causes the rubber to soften and eventually decompose.

Thanks for the heads up, is it easy to access without a ramp etc?
