[:@]I have just spent all day working on my ibiza, including trying to remove my Cat to solve my exhaust blowing issues. Can someone please tell me how to get the buggar out!

I have removed my whole exhaust system, the 5 nuts (sheared one) attaching the cat to the manifold but the engine part of the cat is too big to fit through the tunnel hole for the exhaust system.

My car is currently in all sorts of pieces and until i find a way of removing the cat my new one cant go in and my ibiza will remain undrivable. There must be a logical way but i have had the car at all sorts of heights and tried every angle. Am i being dumb

buzz it out lol if you dont want it, then get some more pipe to cover the gap lol plus might need welding,

bet you could get a stanless manifold to silencer or even a whole exhaust system, will cost a bit like lol.

So nobody has actually removed one then.

Check the diagrams on VAGCAT but none of the options match mine. My Cat and the two-into-one section is one piece, no connection for easy removal.

Hi, from your first post I guess you are trying to bring the front pipe down past the subframe and out from under the car? From my experience the pipe has to come up through the engine bay. Its how it comes out on a mk2 golf and when I pulled the engine out of my beeza (2.0 16v) it also came up through. Im not sure but to get the clearance to come up through the engine bay you may have to remove the injection manifold.:censored:

Thank you for your reply. After pondering technical drawings it seems that some previous jiggery pokery may have taken place. You see my front pipes and cat are one piece, no flange! i cant see how i can get this out through the engine bay due to the length and it seem underneath is also a no no. My next job is to find out the price of a front pipe for ABF plus a Cat, both with flanges. Nightmare
