Does anyone know what rpm the standard pistons are good for ? When these companys remap cupras, do they rev higher or do they stick to the standard rev limiter ??:p

its not really worth reving a standard K03 turbo equiped mk3 cupra over the 5k mark tops as the small turbo cant maintain enough boost and the power drops off dramatically, i rarely take mine over 4k

if you didnt rev it over 4k you wouldnt get very far up a strip for example... surely keep it revving so when you change gear you come straight back into boost.. and not below 3k waiting on the turbo spooling up

well it seems like these Cupras are really restricted, im begining to get fed up of the standard power now. But these things will soon change;)

Claudefrog... what you said makes perfect sense, ideally you want to rev it higher so when you change gear you start on boost to keep the car moving.:D

how are they restricted???

its the turbo system thats the bottleneck
if ur car is standard then get a remap ya muppet, then get a new turbo and intercooler!

stock ibizas are well slow LOL

i know wot u meant mate :)

and i agree

imo the 1.8T is built well though, the internals dont really need to be touched, but the turbo is weak. they should have come standard with a k03s!!

as for changing gear late to be on boost...thats fine but then when its a ickle turbo theres not too much lag so it can be worthwhile changing early rather than staying up in the revs where theres little power

changing gear at 5.5-6krpm is fine fo my car

Well ive only had the car just over a week and its completley standard. At first it wasnt to bad but im still used to driving my old car which was 190bhp and had about 200 ft/lbs of torque and was 100kg lighter than my cupra. Im just rying to learn a little bit more about these cars before i start stripping and changing things etc.

its just a bit of mathematical equations really and me trying to work things out. For example. To make 250 bhp in an Uno Turbo you first need a big enough turbo to flow the air, you then need 1.7 bar boost and 7000rpm to achieve it. Standard pistons in an Uno are good enough to rev to 8000rpm and the conrods etc are good for 250 bhp before they begin to fail.:(

yeah but the uno is a 1.3 aint it?

the ibiza 1.8 20v Turbo block is much stronger hence there isnt much need for new internals...especially if ur only looking for 250bhp.

revving high just defeats the goal that turbo engines are designed for with the exceptions of race/rally bred cars like a scooby or supras..and is mainly due to crazy japs!

Your talkin about uprating the internals before you've done any mods, just get it remapped and you'll rape your old car all day.
