hmm decisions decisions??

i know the T1-R's are very very good and reading reviews they seem better than the Pirellis but if price was not an issue, what would you have? what would wear out quicker on the ibiza? road noise?

what im looking for in a tyre is something that looks good, handles good, doesnt contour with the road and min road noise...

I only had pireli's P zero on one of my cars, as well as a mix of dunlops and michelins, as they were the tyres that were installed on the cars when I bought them. BUT every time it comes to me getting a tyre change I buy Toyo-t1-R. All 3 of my past cars I fit Toyo's to. Absolutely superb tyres with superb grip in the wet (when it isn't greasy) and even better in the dry.

From what I can remember:
the michelins were pants in the wet
Pirelis really understeery in the dry
And dunlops squealed and squeaked at every roundabout

The T1-s were pretty bad at wear, and the T-1r were a definite improvement but don't expect them to last forever. After all better grip means softer tyre which means quicker wear.

as for road noise I can't really comment much as my cars always had an induction kit/exhaust/ stripped out or a sub so no chance of hearing any noise but I've read that they are not the quietest tyres.

At the end of the day its about personal preference but the Toyo's have won me over hand down..............and they are a bargain.

the only other performance tyre i had was Uniroyal Rainsports ....and i loved them, very under rated ...but then again i came from £15 budget tyres.

i didnt know the toyos wore quick, what would be the comparison with the pirellis?

and why are the p-zeros generally higher priced?

Goodyear F1 Egles! mmmm good grip wet or dry but too soft for track use, as I found out lol

Still perfect for road but not the cheapest of tyres!

Toyo's don't wear much quicker then any other performance tyres its just that if your used to using budget tyres that are 100%plastic (really hard so not much grip but last for ages) you get a little shock when you look at your front tyres after 6 months, lol. But just switch them with your rears and you are good to go. I found that the fronts wear about 2x as fast as the rears.

Pirellis cost a lot because of all their marketing. Not to say they are bad tyres but also not the best.

not if you're like me, running 8s at the back at 7s on the front! :p

On the cars ive had , the tyres have been:
pirreli zero's - excellent all rounder

toyo t1s and t1r - both good but very soft

continental sports - "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKK!!" case closed.

uniroyal rainsports - my favourate, lasted ages, looked amazing, handled very well, and they do a nice stretch

Budgets when i bought a set of winter rims - speak for themselves, dont expect the wheels to turn when its wet, u go straight ahead.

Ive got nothing but good to say about my Toyos. Hit a roundabout far too fast today and threw myself out of my seat while my car stuck to the road like glue!!

Im needing new tyres so im thinking im gonna get a set of toyo's and give them a try.

Which would be best T1-R or the T1-S?? Do either of them have the rim protection feature on them??

Or what about the Yokohama A539?

Craig.

The T1-R is a replacement for the T1-s which are no longer made as their wear was shocking, lol. And yes they do have "rim protectors".Not sure about the yokos, I'd say get the Toyo's and you will be pleasantly surprised, and if not then you can get a different set next time. At the end of the day if your about 20 years old and gonna keep driving till 60ish, at a rate of a set of tyres per year, that means you can try out 40 different tyres if you don't like the Toyos ;)

lol, too much time on your hands mig? hehe.

i bought a set of mk3 rims with brand new pzeros (crezz the ones i was telling you about, but got the price down) ...man, their stuckk in my boot for now ...hmm if i wake up at 7am tomorrow (sunday) then i can put them on before i go work ...wish me luck lol, it aint gonna happen.

oh and im not gona keep these wheels on for long, just until winter is over ...the white ronals are taking a beating and i cant clean that often (i.e. everyday)

oh and cruiser the rim protector is on the pzeros, and i think the uniroyals had thick sides too

for now yes, maybe in the summer do a Jib job (white) or black looks nice too actually. one alloy has curbing the other 3 are near perfect, tyres have 7-8mm thread left lol. or might just sell them come summer and carry on the look out for euro pimp wheels.

what about u mate, find anything?

david: that really looks sweet mate.
