Pipercross Induction...

Hi guys, You may think i am stupid but i stuck a mates pipercross induction kit on my car last night. It's for a Corsa 16v but it fitted alright.

Doesn't make a huge induction growl but the standard dump valve is so loud!!!!

Anyway my question is will having this on my car have any bad affects???

Obviously the pipe that plugs into the front of the standard air box has no where to go but to my understanding all this does is assist with warming up when cold??? But i leave mine for ages as i don't rag it until it's had a good 20 mins of warming up time.

I love the sound and it hasn't cost me a thing, BUT will leaving it on cost me in the long run on repairs????

Cheers.

Its hard to say that something will definately go wrong as if we did that no one would ever modify the car, you know?

There is LOADS of threads on the forum about Induction Kits and whats best, the general consensus is that the cheapo ones are not the best but its up to you to decide if you want to keep it on or not! If its going to worry you then i would say take it off and get something different done (modify the standard box or something) but if your not too worried and like what it does then keep it

The secondary air pipe (the pipe that plugs into the standard box) is ok to be tucked in somewhere so that it doesnt flap around but you need to get a 'mini' filter to sit on the top if you are going to change from the standard airbox, they arent expensive but i wouldnt leave it open completely

There is SO many other ways to get the noise i think you are on about without going for a cheapo filter that is going to worry you

It all swings in roundabouts a bit but i would say its down to whatever give you piece of mind

My friend has a Dynatwist, once he fitted a new air intake pipe for it, it become very loud indeed, probably the sort of sound your after...
The Dynatwist is expensive though, and personally, after owning one and selling it on, I don't think its worth the cost.

I am looking into a Green Panel filter though for the standard airbox, I hear a lot of good things, and they are very cheap, something like £38 I think, so it might be worth going down that route if the PiperX is concerning you?

Well i'm am fine with the pipercross make. Just the fact it's not meant for my car!!!!!

It's an £80 induction kit i know thats not that expensive but it's not a £30 halfords job!!!

I need to get a mini filter though. Thanks CupraTgirl.

Don't Pipercross say that you should run their filters drenched in oil? If so, i'm not sure that would be good for the MAF. Also i think the reason your getting a loud noise is because the bloody things made of sponge/foam, its like 50% air! Which probably isnt going to be that good at filtering your intake air. Also not good.

Its the spray you get with the induction kit when u buy it, Ur supoosed to spray it on the induction kit. I had one of these on my old corsa 1.2.

Would be intresting to hear it on a beezer tho!
