hi i thought i would do a little guide/review of my new headunit for anyone wishing to install one or is thinking of getting one instead of a mfd2/3/rns510
headunit : pioneer sph-da120
can bus adapter:connects2 CTSST001.2 + vw adapter lead
ariel adapter:Autoleads PC5-136+ iso to din adapter
facia plate: Connects2 CT23ST13
here is the head unit installed it comes with 2 usb inputs a hdmi input 2 aux inputs and 3 component inputs. also a gps antenner and microphone. 3x pre audio outputs and 2 video outputs. parking camera input.
i installed the gps antenner behing the front interior light and removed the factory microphone to install the pioneer one. i pulled the usb extenders through one to the glove box and one to the centre console. my car was fitted with factory bluetoots so tat had to be disconected i.e taking the fuse out as it stated to do that in the connects 2 manual for the can bus adapter. the fuse is number 9 under the bonnet.
now that the head unit is installed i can say that i am more than happy with my choice most of the steering wheel controls work except the phone and voice command. the large mfd on my dash dose pick up the headunits their but all it says is (active). i am using my standart apple lead for my iphone and it seems to work fine with apple carplay as the manual stats you need to use a pioneer one not sure if you get any extra features with that. The sound qulaity is much better the unit feature auto eq,13 band eq and auto and manual time delay. the extra auto eq mic is £30 you ony need to use it one for 5 minuits for it to set all the paramaters right. i am using focal components in the front and back and with the head unit they sound amazing.
their are a couple of disadvantages the main one being that only selective apps can be used im sure as updates come their will be more but at the minuite their are about 10 in total. the other issue i fine is that because their is no volume nob so you cant instanly turn the volume up or down.
feel free to ask me any questions /need any more info i will ad more to this when i get a little more time
