I'm hoping someone can suggest why this is happening and any way to prevent it?

Today the Arosa got another stone stuck somewhere behind the FNS brake disk, which pushed something against it and gave off a really nasty metallic screech.
I've had this happen at least three times now in the last couple of years, and every time it happens I have to jack the car up, spin and wiggle the wheel while prodding things behind it until the stone comes pinging out and I can carry on my way.

I was just wondering if this is normal or is there something about that wheel which might be catching stones where it shouldn't?
