Picking up my Leon 1.8T Cupra on Tuesday

This is just the "normal" Cupra, as opposed to the "R".

I'm really looking forward to it. I test drove it twice before deciding to buy it. It's a 2002, in metallic blue. The performance was amazing and I'm simply not used to that sort of speed in a car.

I'm coming from a Peugeot 306 XS-S (1.6 engine, no fancy performance) so it is going to be a bit of a change, I think!

As part of this, I've sold my Bandit 1200 motorbike (I simply wasn't using it, and it wasn't practical for a lot of the stuff I'm doing nowadays), so here's hoping the Leon will have plenty of thrills :)

Any recommendations for a new owner would be much appreciated.

Great car mate. Its one of the best all rounders out there, fast, reliable, roomy, comfy, big boot, good looking and doesn't cost the earth to keep. Welcome to the site!!

Welcome, by the way :D
Funny you should suggest that, there is a Revo dealer about 10 minutes down the road! (vagpower.co.uk, I believe).

Car is coming with a one year warranty though, so I wouldn't really want to risk that early on. Besides, I've got to get used to the stock 180 first!

They only read from the ECU, the Revo code is written to s spare area of the chip so when the dealer plugs in everything it looks at is normal.

They may 'think' it's chipped by they don't have the technology at the dealer. Besides 90% of dealers don;t care warranty work is money in the bank ;)

I think it's £499
SPS controller is extra but you can borrow one, buy one later, buy one second hand (often for sale on here or ebay) etc....there are three versions that do different things.

I had warranty work done (fuel pump and flashed ECU) on mine and they never knew it had the remap done.
So i wouldnt worry too much about the dealer or your warranty!

If they flash the ECU, do you lose the remapping....?

It is possible the remap can be detected by the flash count! But this can be reset to zero! This is what I had done to mine along with a switchable device to return to stock!

Yeah you do ,(i had APR done at Awesome and when the dealer flashed the ECU, Awesome redid the remap free of charge). As for it bein detectable im sure APR isnt (or so awesome gti & apr claim) plus if it was im sure my dealership would of tried charge me for it!!
Get it done mate its like driving a different car! i had my new 05 done in 6 weeks of having it, well worth it!!
