My girlfriend and I picked up our '51 plate Cupra yesterday.
We ve done 140 miles yesterday and today and love the car. My previous car was a mk1 Golf GTi, although this is a million miles away from it, its nice to have a vag car again.
The only thing thats surprised me really is the lack of an on board computer, I ve flicked through the owners book and its there so Im guessing it was an option or only on later models?

Hi welcome to SCN the place where nobody sleeps. lol.

I too have a 51 plate and no trip com either, it was not introduced until the facelift model i think. Anyways is it really that much of a big deal to you coz you can always get it fitted. What colour LC you got?? (worms) i know

Not sure of the exact name but its the light silver one, not the dark silver. Totally standard with full Seat history every 10k, a bit up on miles but price reflected that. Love it already!

Not really mate, It s the mrs daily driver so it ll be just kept clean and standard I should imagine. Cam belt is due in 3k so that will be the first big job, finding someone I can trust to do it in plymouth or Cornwall is also looking like a challenge! Having only owned older cars before I ve always done the work myself.

You needn t worry about questions regarding to dump valves, or anything even moderately chav like for that matter!
Little pieces of advice like the metal impeller when doing the cam belt are what interest me! Vagcom is also a new one on me, shall be doing a search on that right now to find out more.

Brilliant, thanks.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an explanation of vagcom please? Exactly what it is, how it works, how to get it etc etc.
I did a search but theres loads of stuff relating to vagcom but not a complete explanation as far as I can see.
Sorry if this sounds dumb, my 1979 Golf GTi had nothing like this as you can imagine!

VAG COM is the Serial-port software that allows you to interrogate the ECU/brain of your VAG car.

It'll work with all serial-port/ODB equipped Skodas, Audis, VWs and SEATs.

Type it in on google. There is a cost for the software, but generally many people on here will happily connect your Leon up to have a look.

It's useful for diagnosing faults as VAG COM reports a myriad of failures via fault-codes that can then be addressed individually.
