Hi, the recall letter arrived today advising that the dealer would need the car for around 6 hours to undertake the modification.

Unfortunately my local dealer is unable to undertake the work and apparently there are only six dealers in the UK with the specialist technicians to do the job.

However, having now spoken to Seat UK to book the car in, the nearest dealer authorised to do the replacement is over 2 hours drive away.

Does anybody know which dealers are able to do the recall?

Cheers

Still waiting for Seat UK to call me back, knowing that a transporter and car is a possibility makes sense rather than have a four hour round trip and possibly an overnight stopover as they need the car a minimum of 6-7 hours!

Thanks for the information gives me a bargaining tool when they phone, at the end of the day it’s their problem as I was booked in with my local dealer until I got a call back saying they were unable to undertake the rework.

Cheers

Ya, I was advised a full walk around on handover for paint before handover and mileage check etc. And photos where warranted.

Can you post a copy of the letter, please? I'm curious if the Cupra Leon eHyrbid is also impacted.

Seat/Cupra UK won't discuss anything with me as I'm not the registered keeper and the leasing company is next to useless so for all I know they've had the letter and are sitting on it.

They have, initially I checked on the MOT status with registration number and at the bottom it identified the recall.

Seriously?

It's good that the issue is being dealt with correctly, but it seems a bit farcical that only 6 dealers in the UK have the necessary knowledge/equipment/techs to fix it.

My only thought is that there are a lot more non PHEV cars registered and that it’s probably more economical for Seat to use these six garages to undertake the recall activit than train up technicians at all the dealers who may have only sold a small number of PHEV vehicles

Has anyone been able to successfully book their car in for this recall work yet?

I have an open case with SEAT customer service at the moment to get my car booked in but they have shared very little info with me so far and just getting updates from them is a challenge to say the least. The suggestion of transporting the car as mentioned above has not even been made in the contact I’ve had with them!

I'm calling my local dealer on 13th next Monday to hopefully arrange the date as I needed uninterrupted use of the car until then.

Surely ringing them now to book it in after the 13th would give the same result?

Quick update, after two calls to SEAT uk the issue was escalated to the team manager who phoned back, however he is ringing me this week (hopefully) with a resolution as I’m not prepared to travel to Doncaster or Stirling for the recall action which is 2-3 hrs drive away.

Had the same letter for my Cupra Leon, my local dealership won't get battery centre status until next year, and nearest one to me is 2 - 3 hours away.

Already started playing dealership / customer services ping pong... Dealership say they can't do anything, and customer services saying its up to the dealership to arrange transport..

Contacted customer services via webchat, and they are going to pass my request onto the nearest dealer that can do the work and see what they say.

I’m now playing dealership/customer services ping pong too. Customer services asked me to contact my local dealership to book the car in with them - they would then arrange transport to a BCC to have the work done. The dealership hasn’t been told about this and have asked me to go back to customer services. Back to square one for me! Not sure what else I can do at this point

Customer services again advised that its up to the local dealership to arrange transport etc, just had a call with the manager of the local dealership and they've given a little bit more information in that it's the BCCs that can authorise / arrange transport / cars etc and not the local dealership.

They are going to contact the nearest BCC to me and ask what their process is, so that they can work that out before I call and book it in, or they'll book it in on my behalf.
