stopped using my beloved 8v gti ibiza cos the clutch was just too damn heavy for my knackered left leg and cruised around in my land barge (carlton 2.6 straight 6). but in the mean time my ibiza's mot had ran out and things were steadily seizing up (seatbelts, battery went flat ect) despite a weekly run out (on private land). so the decision was made to sell her as I just couldn't see her go to waste. so it was sold on the gaybay for £600 quid. on the hunt for a new car I spotted a listing (gaybay again) for a smart looking 16v gti cuprasport going very cheap. so I did a text based history check and it turned out to be a CAT C damaged and repaired with engineers report. so I took the chance and had a punt. I won it for the princeley sum of £501! Had to go to Carlisle to get it though!
Breif rundown;
1997 "P"
cuprasport gti 16v
116k miles
half leather seats
standard apart from a very nice (and seemingly mandrel bent) no-name exhaust
pics of when I got her back to my parents (easier to go there for the weekend cos Doncaster was a hell of a lot closer to Carlisle to Huntingdon!)
and here it is back at home safe and sound after a quick wash
so far i've done the following;
oil/filter changed
new plugs/leads
new discs
new ferrodo ds 4200 front pads
new standard rear pads
drilled airbox
made a sort of induction kit thing using a k&n cone filter I had lying around the garage (origional filter was fooooked and my budget had all gone on the other stuff!)
here's the air filter I made;
it sounds quite good with this on. seems to go well too.

Immediate plans are;
sort the handling (rear dampers are knackered)
get the cambelt done (no service history)
sell my carlton so I can eventually buy the following;
bilstein "street" coilover kit (not height adjust)
rear spacers
BMC CDA (worked very well on my mates old ABF powered mk2 golf!)
