Petrol or Diesel...

Looks like this is going to be my new home. :funk:

I'm probably going to go for an Ibiza Mk3 TDi (maybe remapped to 120bhp as insurance companies won't know) for my next car. However, I've been told to go for a petrol for numerous good reasons. The derv is group 7 insurance which is the very limit for me. Would I be better off going for a petrol taking most/all factors into consideration...performance, economy, servicing, tax, etc.?

Any informed responses welcomed.

go for the Tdi, as you will get better performance for the insurance costs.

Although insurance comapnies are twigging on tot his fact slowly.

plus torque will be higher than any NA petrol you buy.

I hate to do this to someone so new, but it's been discussed to death on here so you're probably going to get loads of cries saying "use the search!". Seriously though if try searching through the forum using the link at the top you'll find more info than you know what to do with.

the pdi is in the mk4 only, i would personally go for the cupra, but its up to you, tax and servicing is no different, petrol is more thirsty, and group 14 insurance.

But they you do get the 1.8T engine not a Tdi
