hi
I drive a mk2 Leon fr 194 bhp, I’m looking to fit a performance exhaust system.
Don’t really know where to start!... I’m not looking to annoy the neighbors just want it to sound better, a few pops and bangs wouldn’t go a miss either!

Any advice would be Appreciated

Welcome to the forum,

Before I talk about exhausts have you thought about putting in a cone air filter (Revo - £360 ish) which would give you some more noise from the engine on power and letting off.

There are many companies for exhausts but it all comes down to budget...

You can remove the silencer just after the cat with a straight through pipe for about £90 whcih gives a nicer noise but I'm unsure on MOT rules these days.

Then you can get a BCS (Powervalve) resonated cat back exhaust for about £600 which should give you a deeper tone, if you want it louder than that you can get a non resonated exhaust but you may find that your neighbors might not like you much on early morning starts - https://www.powervalve.co.uk/products/seat/leon.html

Or you could get a downpipe and 200 cell cat fitted which should improve noise slightly again for about £600 I think (normally used for mapping stage 2 I think)

Few brands to look at

Jetex - https://www.jetex.co.uk/performance-exhausts/

Milltek and Scorpion - https://progressiveparts.com/parts/exhaust/exhaust-systems

BCS (Powervalve) - https://www.powervalve.co.uk/products/seat.html

Cobra - http://cobrasport.com/index.php/cobra-sport-exhaust/seat/leon.html

If you want a nice noise but not too loud you could get in contact with BCS and get a resonated exhaust but they do it modular so you could turn into non res if you so wanted (others may do this also)

Hope this helps

Cheers

Nothing against the big brands but not one company I've researched do an exhaust for the supercopa so I'm taking mine to Simon's Custom Exhausts in September. It's just below Glasgow and hes work is all custom made to suit your needs. Quoted price includes fitting although he's very busy, when I rang a few week ago mid September was earliest I could get

Hey mate. Iv had cars at simons before he does good work. I got quoted 180 inc vat for the traditional "cat back" type of exhaust. Although i do like the sound you get from a good miltek non res system....i had one on my mk1 cupra r.....also what is the car booked in for? Full turbo back system or just a mid section back

He's quoted £375 for mine which is from dpf back, straight through, no back box and 2 100mm tips.
What was the sound like when you got your cars done?

The ones i got done were a long tine ago so obv lots have changed in the way people want there cars to sound... 1st was a 1.4 sri corsa c i just wanted out( boy i wasnt dissapounted lol) 2nd was on a pug 106 gti and wanted it to be no bad on normal driving but sonething to sound nice on full chat... in my oppinion if u were having the exhaust done from the dpf back i would suggest to do it from the join under the car. Kinda in line with the cd player at the dash board how big a bore are you going on the system?

What car you got mate?, also yeh theres a join after the flexi pipe its abput 6 inchs long if yohr lucky it has 2 clamps one on each end. On my fr170 iv spent a few pennies on mods, iv got egr and dpf deletes with a map and the 3" downpipe from darkside developments. The standard size on the fr170 i think is 2.5inch... also if i were you id stick a back box on it and then have the outlet from there you dnt want the raspy drone at 70mph

It's a fr+ Supercopa. 2.0 CR 170 so same engine as yours.
I've got planned the egr and dpf delete + Remap early next year.

The 3" downpipe is that instead of the dpf

So the far right hand side of thebphoto theres 2 clamps and the wee bit of pipe its like a connecter between the downpipe amd center section.. id go from there back since itll b easier to get the downpipe changed

Thanks for the pointers. I’m also considering a stage 1 remap, any idea on prices?, pro, cons etc?
