Pedal box + MORE - Clutch?!?!?!

Hi ppl

A few weeks ago my pedal box snapped, after reading up on here i took it to a garage and got it fixed for £280 - good???

however, when i got the car back i noticed that the travel on the pedal was really short (like 2-3 inches from the top of the pedal (unpressed) to the bottom (pressed in) and it wasnt engaging the clutch properly, It started worse and finally stopped working completely - i took it back to the garage and they said that the clutch cable had come off!!!!!

anyway.... again they fixed it and again it still wasnt right, over the next couple of days the travel on the clutch got even shorter still - to the point where i didnt have to move my leg to fully press it down and it wouldnt go into gear without a good shove.

and more - when the mechanic took it out to test it - it broke down and now they seem to think that the actual clutch is screwed!!!

does ANYONE have ANY IDEA what this problem is?!?!

The Receipt for the replacement pedelbox in my new Beeza is £125 fitted, I think they did you over a little and now they've fecked your clutch to due to the work being shoddy!
don't pay them another penny and insist on full repair (new clutch, cable etc) and if they refuse get onto trading standards & all the other relavant bodies as most garages sh*t a brick at the thought of having inspector's start digging!

I had a problem when I couldn't get to my usual garage for an MOT & had to use another.
They didn't attach the front of the Engine undertray back on properly which then at a ton decided to come off and lodge itself under the car, this in turn damaged a new cambelt, drive belt & pulley. I took it back and politely asked what they intended to do about it and they said nothing as the car had driven away.
I then asked for the VOSPA no to which they asked why and I said "hope MOT's aren't the main source of income for this little place as by the time I've finished this phone call you won't be licened, you let a car drive away from here unroadworthy with a certificate, last time I checked that was illegal"

Suprisingly they replaced all the belt's & Pulley's and even got me a new undertray as the last one was damaged all free of charge & without argument!!

The problem you have is a mechanic who hasn't got the gaul to say I don't know and bodges it, my mate who struggles to change a plug managed to change his pedel box (ok it did take nearly 6 hours) and had no trouble after!
Basically they have no idea of what their dealing with find a VAG specialist and bill the original garage for the repairs! Before you go get a few governing body names to throw at them and if this still doesn't work just drop it on them!

I got mine welded up for £15

The pedal box is £70 to buy and they are a fecker to put in, so i dont think you got over charged on the fitting. However for that price i would expect there to be some guarantee that they'd screwed it back together properly.

I got quoted £340 labour charge to change a pedal box. Didnt really want to pay it hence how i now have a bolt through the pedal box and a new clutch and clutch cable on. The clutch was done after it broke the first time.

I have a new pedal box to fit just incase the one that is bolted together decides to break for good the next time.

If it does go i will change the pedal box myself, even if it does take me 6 hours or whatever. Better than paying £340!!

i've had one go, got it welded up and a new clutch cable for about 50 odd quid, then the day i got it, went out for a drive and the clutch went :( so then another 250 quid later, all was sorted :) took a while to get used to such a light clutch though lol.
