hello all .... for the last few weeks my clutch has been draggin and refusing to go into gear now and again .. i thort it was the cluctch soo toook it to seat and they checked it out for me and found out that it wasnt the clutch is was the pedal box :)confused:) apperntly its cracked and split, and apperntly its common on ibiza's lol ? Seat wanted something like £450 soo i went to my local performance garage and they said anything between £200-£250 does anyone know if this is a good price ? and also do you have to remove all the steeering colum etc to get the pedal box out ?

thankyou Nafe

£450? thats rediculous!! i dont know if its the same problem, but mine went and cost me 50p for a new clip, i did have some welding done too but that was free :) still would only cost you £10 max for the amount of welding needed

You only need to take the clutch pedal off, not the whole lot. Takes 5mins, weld it back up, fit a new white plastic clip (inside the box on the clutch pedal) and shove it back in. Job done.

right its gone to Seat today because my garage found out that the box is completly shagged and needs a new one. Seat are doin 2hours work ( steering wheel/colum/airbag etc off and old pedal box out and new one put back in then all the above fitted back on ) then its going back to my garage for the new pedal box to be bolted back up etc. Apperntly the box had been bent out of place over the years and shattered in all places. the pedeals being reinforced for free aswell
£250 including - pedal box,labour 3-4hours,Vat :(

apperntly its a good deal because im gettin trade price on the labour and also it took them 1 1/2 hours to get my car onto/off the lorry to be transfered back and forth lol ( beacue its soo low ) but im not gettin charged for that either.

Thinking about selling the bezza after this then whilst its still working lol

am i right in saying yours is a 1.4 ?

if so it's a cable clutch so there's no seperate white clip like the 20vt hydraulic clutch, and usually the pedal doesn't break (it's the pedal box where the cable comes through) as you've found out by the looks of it

it's worth checking the state of the cable while it's disconnected to make sure it's not starting to sieze
