Car takes about 4-4.5 litres of oil, and they'll charge it by the litre as they buy it in bulk.

Call up the dealer and make sure their oil meets VW 506.01 specification and if it doesn't get them to do it again FOC.

I went to dealers and asked for some for my old PD160 and they gave me the wrong stuff which didn't meet VW 506.01. I took it back and they said its the right stuff and its what they use for servicing!

Went down Halfords in the end and brought some Castrol Edge.

You have to read the manual to see what your spec is (I guess 505.01) and then read the bottle of the oil you're going to buy.

Good motor factors have a book telling them which one is right for your car.

Well, guess what-dealers pretty sure they have the right oil.... 505.01 which they use for all PD engines, but its not 506.01 which is recommended in my cupra manual. I have phoned seat UK for a difinitive answer, f-n joke. Id like my money back please........Seat dealers in South Wales need help.

Well 505.01 isn't right for your car, take your Cupra manual and prove it to them. 505.01 is thicker.

If they've done it wrong, they should pay for it to be put right. I have been a service advisor at 2 main dealers and we'd always fix it for free if we got it wrong.

cheers tom..I had it confirmed from seat uk that the right oil for the ibiza cupra diesel is 506.01, id like that stuck somewhere, because as far as i can see i dont think the dealer (or others) were aware of the oil was used in seat models.
The mangager told me i was wasting my time, and they were right blah blah...not on really, but i wont complain if they sort it out immediately; not sure what effect it will have had on the engine (probably minimal)-but worth checking.
Still awaiting a response from the dealer, an apology, and the replacement oil.

Is there a procedure for replacing wrong oil, eg new oil filter and engine flush as well?

I don't think it'll need a flush but if you think you can get away with one, give it a go :)

If the dealer are being rude, complain via customer services and get them to sort it out. They should give you a case number and all that.
