Passenger door locking problem in Leon MK2

Recently I have had a few problems with the passenger door on my Leon MK2 FR TDi.

It started off with a clicking noise whenever I would be driving between 0-10mph (ish) where it would sound like the door is trying to auto lock, like it does when you drive away for the first time.

However the problem worsened over the past couple of days when the door wouldn't open from the outside when the car was unlocked. I could open it from the inside, but this is a real PITA for passengers.

Is this a common fault? Any idea how I can fix it?

Going on previous posts, failing door locking actuators appear to be a common issue on these cars. If you can find another member local to you who has VCDS then I would try and get a diagnostics scan done on your car as that may confirm an issue with the passenger door locking actuator.

Thanks for the replies.

I have had a look at those threads and the DIY instructions to change the door lock, but I don't fancy it :( Looks quite involved

I'll give my local dealer a phone and see what my options are. If I could provide the part and they could fit then I may consider that. Knowing VAG the part price will be astronomical.

A brand new passenger door lock actuator is listed as being ~£116 from SEAT (the part number is 1P2837015). Dave at Sere Motors on here might be able to get you one cheaper.

Thanks for this. £116 isn't buttons, but it could be worse. I'll give my local dealership a phone (VW Ingrams, Ayr) and enquire about total cost including fitting. I'll be asking for a breakdown as well.

I have been given a quote of £189 for the part and fitting at a Volkswagen specialist in Ayr. All-in-all it doesn't seem like a bad price, so hopefully it's the correct part. I would imagine that would be cheaper than my local VW dealership would quote.

These are there details in case it helps anyone in future.

Just get them to confirm that they believe the fault is definitely with the door actuator before they start ordering in any parts. They would expect them to do their own diagnostics check on the car first.
