Part or fully synthetic Oil?

my friend raised a question last night with his Ibiza cupra, about which to oil to use

1. Fully synthetic
2. Part synthetic

just wondered what you guys preferred to use on your Leons?

if indeed, although probably none, did you notice a difference, smoothness etc?

also which make do you prefer, some say Castrol GTX and others Mobil 1. Although Mobil 1 is very expensive

General rule of thumb, if you have a turbo, semi synthetic for 1st 5k miles and then fully synthetic thereafter.

I use mobil 1, good stuff

so let me just understand that

so if i was doing an oil change, i would put in part synthetic for the first 5k miles, then change that again and put in fully synthetic?

1st 5-10k of its life yes. (1st service normally)

Anything above 10k on a TC engine should have fully synthetic oil.

fully synthetic all the way, and if you are like me, ignore the manufacturers recomended change time, i do mine every 6000 miles regardless, but then i do enjoy using my right foot, so helps me feel less guilty by changing oil and filter more often....lol

Fully Synthetic here too. Always the case on the 1.8T engines as far as I know.

shame dealers put in semi on the cupra..
i use mobil 1 on the LCR

Got mobil 1 from costco for about £22 for my LC.
