Rear Parking sensors - Has anyone had these retro fitted by seat?
I am getting mixed reports from dealers!

One says it'll be about £300 in parts alone, and have to strip half the car to fit it!:-o

Another dealer said it'll be £302 all in parts and labour,

And the 3rd dealer has said it'll be £130 for parts and only 1 hours labour!

So anyone know which is the nearest, and i'm a medium all rounder with cars,so is there any chance i could fit these myself???
Thanks for any input. Paul :)

Well when mine was factory built Seat UK forgot to pass the order onto Spain to factory install them as part of the build. I was given the option of either rejecting the car or the garage would install them. I opted for the latter. If I went out to the car and looked in the manual I could tell you which they were. If you read my posts from 2004 it will be here :).

The only down side of not having factory ones is that they don't match the bumper, but who cares, mine are black circles and the bumper is silver. Well worth having since in a car like the Altea you will run into something and given that I put my old ZX into a bollard when new that was tilting into the road on a dark twisty single track country road to let someone come past.... worth having - it made a nasty mess down the side of the car. Still a bit of touch up.

I use it all the time with the Altea and know that I won't be running into bollards with it fitted or stupid people that park behind you when backing out of a drive etc.

Thanks guys, really after a genuine Seat set though Craig!
Cheers Tell! I have a Black Altea so it shouldn't look too bad, just wanted to know mainy though if the SEAT set are plug and play units or do you have to wire it all into the car bit by bit?

If the sensors come with their own speaker then the most wiring you will need to so is to the live feed to the reversing lights and earth.

I'm not sure where the sound comes from on my factory fitted ones though, if I get chance later, I'll see if I can find out.

Just been to investigate.

The sound comes from the very back of the car, somewhere in the boot, so my guess would be that the sensor kit has it's own speaker so should just be a case of connecting into the reversing light circuit and earth.

Is it loud enough? And this is a Seat kit yes?
Thanks.Paul

Pretty sure the Seat ones are plumbed in via the headend so they use the back speakers... 99.999 percent confident of this, it's on the pin out unless I'm having a mental aberration.

Thanks Tell Good info,so would it need to have wires run through the car,or is there a plug wired into the vehichle ready?

Where is Klawit when you need him ;).

There is a rule with certain manufactures in whether they put the leads in, given that the leads aren't in for the changer you can be sure they won't be in for the parking sensors, but I stand to be corrected. I bet one of Klawit's German board posters has published a DIY kit already :).

Lol,yep probably would be nice if the wires were there but eh oh what'll be will be!
Funnily enough i'm adding my autochanger later hopefully :)

Had ours fitted by the supplying dealer from new £250 fitted ... certainly loud enough but seem oversensitive at times .. they geek off if a kerb is a mile away had them checked at the 1st service and they said was all ok ...I like them but not 100% confidant with them and I feel factory fit ones are prob best as my sister in laws ones on her audi A3 are good.

Hmm,some mixed results on these then! Probably better than nothing, especially with the candle of a reverse light!

yes still worth having ...we've probably just got a duff one and you're dead right that reversing light is pony... one of the very few things I can find fault with the car
