Parking sensor sensitivity

I'd like to adjust the sensitivity of the parking sensors, as they go in the "red zone" even though there is still plenty of space in front of the car. This can be a bit annoying, when I try to park as close as possible to the front wall of my garage to make more space for bicycles etc.

I haven't found this adjustment to be possible. But has anyone else had any luck doing this?

Not sure if there is a way to recalibrate, but why not eliminate use of them in garage by mounting a cane with electrical tape on a spring on the floor exactly where you want your car to stop (I'm sure there are less crude ways like having a laser on side wall of garage which comes on with motion sensors and you know you have got close enough when beam is broken). And just ease into garage until you see the cane move. Sorted. And your sensors will still keep you out of harms way when out and about.

There is also a way of using a simple mark on your garage wall and triangulation so that when the mark aligns with the far edge of bonnet, you are parked. But beware, your seat needs to be in same position every time. If you have a partner who moves the seat forward a notch you could be in trouble...

I have a ball hanging from the garage ceiling with string. When the windscreen hits it I know to stop (it's actually for the missus).

When me and my brother were kids our dad had something like this hanging from the garage roof. One day, we were playing 'boxing', string breaks, we retie it, (its now a lot shorter) we clear off into house. Old man comes home from work, mother opens garage doors, old man drives in at his usual warp factor 9 , cue very loud bang, paint tins, jars, garage window etc all resting on the bonnet...... we hid..... :D

+1 to post 4. Now that plugs are permanently wired to electrical appliances., you can cut off the lead and use the plug as a distance detector by adjusting the wire from the roof of the garage. To be on the safe side remove the fuse from the plug
