I have been noticing a few stone chips lately on the front of my Leon Cupra and im wanting to get them sorted.

Basically i have 3 big chips on the bonnet that have gone rusty underneath now,and also the front bumper is slightly pebbledashed, its not 100% noticable unless up close,or even if i run my hand along the bumper and bonnet.

Im not sure what to do as i have never had this type of work done.

If i get a respray all round front will it be shitty and noticable?
Should i get full front respray or just get bits touched up?

I personally think touched up stone chips look really bad,i just want it all mint again!

Any body have any ideas on price for this type of thing?
My car is Extreme Blue.

Opinions welcome.

Where abouts are you located, maybe someone in your area can recomend a good paintshop.

A good quality paint shop should be able to paint the front bumper and hood, with the correct colour matched paint, so you can't even tell its been done. I know the bodyshop near me could touch in chips and then blend them in, but if your hood has started to rust, it may be more involved.

Might be an idea when your going round finding prices, to ask to see examples of their work. If they are good, they should be busy and have cars waiting to be collected, or just coming out the shop.

I have a couple of these but were fresh when i brought the car so I applied a little spot of primer on each to prevent rusting.

I'm going to try one of then chip and dent master thingys and see what they quote.
Does any1 have any idea what I should expect?? and will it look like they were never there in the end???

there was a woman who owns the cafe next door to us.. who someone bump into her toyota corolla, scuff the front bumper up.

She had one of those mobile paint people come out.. he was sat there with one of those small air guns tocuhing it in.. for a metallic grey finish it didnt come out too badly. To be honest it wasnt perfect, but it would do. For a scuff i think it would be worthwhile.. dont know about stone chips though.

i've got same problem mate - I've been quoted £400 for full front end respray (bumper and bonnet, + dent removed from wing) but that also included 1 alloy refurb too....

I need mine sorted and have been recommended a few people, but nobody seems to respond to my emails etc... :(

I used Dent Devils once charged £80.00 per panel but they dont paint not sure what Chips Away would charge if you get a bad stone chip you should cover it with clear nail polish to stop it rusting till you get round to getting it repaired

if it helps pabs,
I got my bodykit sprayed by a guy in portsmouth, £100 for front, rear and skirts.

Your welcome to have a look at my car next time your around portsmouth to see waht his handywork is like.

not sure how good he is at dent removal, depends if it needs filling or just pulled. colour match is good on my car too. only thing is he's pretty busy i think, cos he works on his own, but got two spray booths.

unfortunately i cant give you a telephone number, but i know were he is and could find out if you want.

Dodson - firstly apologies for nicking thread - this will be my last post on here about my thing:

Red_LCR_TDI - colourtech have been recommended to me - dent i think needs filling. I really need to get to a bodyshop to let them have a look at it.

Anyway, back onto Dodsons thread  sorry mate

I just had the front of mine sprayed, but as I have a stupid colour car, it was a case of bonnet, wings and flashed down the doors!
Came to £220 all in, the guy had an absolute nightmare job, the car is Azalea red, was only on the Cupra for 6 months, its a 3 stage paint of primer, coloured basecoat, finishing colour and clearcoat.
As mines 6 years old it had also faded so getting the match right was difficult because of the stages. I am happy with the results though.

I had someone from Chips Away out twice lately, once for some scratches to a rear door, which went onto the rear wheel arch as well and were quite deep, that cost about £90 and covered a fair sized area, I'd say maybe 20cm in diameter. I might be able to dig out a photo of the damaged area if you're interested.

The second time was for a deep scratch to my bumper which cost about £60, that needed filling before being painted.

I've got a silver Leon Cupra and the colour match is good, but not perfect, if you're really looking, you can see a slight difference in the colours, but if you don't know to look it would be difficult to spot.

Car Spa on the Teesside (Thornaby) Industrial estate near ingleby barwick. Had a fair bit of work done on previous cars. One silver and one metallic blue. They did an excellent job in all cases. I believe (from seeing cars being delivered) that they do work for a number of car dealers in the area inc peugeot and vw.

diy it!

STONE CHIPS are easy! take your time and it will be great! cant get any worse than ugly stone chip! ive done a few and the results are not noticeable! remenber good body shops have you car for 4-5days!

1.get a touch up stick you colour and clear laquer stick, cocktail sticks! papers 1500grit
cutting comp a warm (NOT WET) day polish and wax

2.clean panel to get off all wax/polish etc..

3.rub area around chip with wet/dry paper do this for paint to take to the old paint! (1500grit) other wise it just rubs off! circle around chip about 1/2 cm will do dont go mad or more paint will be needed!

4. clean panel to get off all wax/polish etc..

5.mix up paint (mix it )(really mix it)

6.put i little paint on the cocktail stick paint the chip try and let the paint blob dont run the stick through the paint!

7. leave to dry overnite

8.rub down with paper (1500grit) on a rubber block to get it flat like paint work is!

9. Do the same with laquer stick

10. flat the laquer back

11.cutting compound the paint to bring back the shine dont press to hard as it can burn the paint away!

12. gloss back (fine compound) the light scrathes

13. polish with normal ploish

14.wax the top!
