A couple of years ago there was some talk here about the discs getting rusty and people painting them. What do you recommend, Hammerite? Will it stand the heat? Do anyone have the Clubsport discs, do they rust or are they primed? Soon getting delivery :p

The inner hub/bell won't rust as they are aluminium I believe. But been looking at a few used clubsport s' on auto trader and yes the edges of the discs do look rusty.

Sorry, after re reading the post I didn't make it clear. I was only talking about the clubsport s discs being aluminium at the hub section so won't rust. So been looking into this as an upgrade, as my standard discs look terrible with rust on them.

I painted my brake disc centre's years back on another vehicle. Used hammerite silver paint with good results. Not sure how it would stand up to hot temps if car was used on track days as wasn't specific high temp paint just std hammerite outdoor metal paint. Discs looked miles better for the paint though ;)

If anyone knows of a just as good but more heat resistant paint please let me know.

Slightly related: what front brake ducts are you using or considering?

The ones on my Mini just had a zinc primer on them (OE parts) seems to have lasted well

I had the same issue. I went to a local detailer and he recommended that black is the best. Definitely worth doing. It cost me £60 for all 4 and the guy even properly cleaned the wheels (and car)

I now have a brand new Ateca and I'll be looking at something to prevent this as it's a VW group problem. My sister has a 2017 Q3 and the hubs rusting already!

It makes the car look horrible with big alloys!
