Paint Defect ?

Hi all

I am a new Seat owner with a concern which I have not found an answer to after searching through the old threads.

I bought a pre registered Silver 06 TDi FR four weeks ago and noticed that there are "waves" in the paintwork and it is noticeable that the bumper and wings are slightly different colours.

On return to the Dealer they informed me that it is the type of metallic paint that is used and was normal and you only notice it more on silver cars.

It is not easily noticeable and does not really bother me but I am concerned about corrosion in future years and that it may affect the resale value.

The car is not the facelift model and only had 15 miles on the clock when I bought it so could anyone confirm if this is common to all silver cars and if not what could/should i do about it ?

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is has been discussed elsewhere.

Does it look like swirls???

Especially in direct sunlight???

IF so its the dealer using sh*t techniques to wash it and it has wrecked the brand new paintwork...

No it is not swirls it looks as if there has either not enough paint been applied or it has been applied unevenly although as I said it is not obvious I was just wondering if anyone else had came across this.

I'd get them to re-spray it.. IMO.. that's not good enough for a brand new car..

Mines is the same its just the type of paint reflecting differently from different angles. Its more noticeable when the car is clean. You'll get used to it.

Thanks Kendo that puts my mind to rest, I have never trusted Car Dealers but it looks like this time they were telling the truth.:D

you will find exactly he same thing with the ovni yellow

the plastic parts look slightly different to the metal parts (bumpers, fuel cap, wing mirrors)

I was told that this is because the metal is electrostatically painted and the plastic stuff has to be painted by hand in the conventional way, this is common an lots of makes of cars

hope that helps ya!....:D
