I went into the bodyshop near my area and all i asked for was a price to colour code my side strips, rear bit under the bumper and my mirror covers. Then when i asked for the price they sed a couple of hundred quid?! This seemed to me like a rip off. How much has everyone else paid for similar things done?

Id say thats not far off. Its not cheap to get stuff sprayed. I had a lot done on my old cordy.

it maybe cheaper if you are willing to take it all off and prep and prime it. the plastic bits have to have plastic flexible primer and paint otherwise it flakes off when a stone hits it.

most of that £200 will probably be man hours.

for example a bonnet could cost £200-£300.

but if its a good job, it maybe worth the money.

Yup, sounds right to me.

I got my side strips done whilst getting other work done, so didnt cost me a penny, but the body shop would have changed £100 for them.

Its a good body shop, and im gunna go back for more work soooon!

I had my side strips smoothed and headlight eyebrows colour coded at my local body shop and it cost me £100, i also got another quote from a bodyshop in Daventry called QVR and for the same thing they quoted £190+vat. Shop around chap, but i think that thats a pretty good price you got quoted.

Ah i see. Well would probably be cheaper me getting the Fr covers and sod the side strips. I have a a luna grey mk 4 ibiza so they should suit it well? I seem to remember that Dlever was doing them for £6.36 each..

yep £6.36 each

I got some of these last weekend and it makes the car look loads better - just make sure you can actually fold the mirrors so you can take the covers off. The car looks a bit weird with one black and one silver mirror!!!

I can get them off :D i bought some heated mirrors off maxcars1 and these had seized. To get the case off, get a small flathead screwdriver and work yourway arond the bottom of the mirror, then pull it off and it should come out then chap.

Talking about painting cost.......my mk2 will be getting a full spray soon, and i have a quote of 450-500 for the full thing, incuding filling, primering and colour coding most things :)

Friend of a friend and he's damn good, did my mates car and its fooking mint.....even with a blue on black metaflake

Talk about a doughnut! I didnt know that in order to fold manual mirrors the car had to be unlocked! After i did this the passenger mirror did fold...Hurah! But the drivers side mirror didnt budge a millimetre. Does this mean that it has seized up with corrosion like someone was saying?

Yeah it sounds like you've got the same problem I have. It seems to be a common problem.

You can still change the mirror covers if you want. It's just a bit harder if the mirror won't fold!

Does anyone know an easy way of un-seizing mirrors??:help:

Well i can change the one that does fold obviously but like with you, how are you meant to unseize the dodgy mirror and change it?

Well I can tell you that excess amounts of WD40 don't help, it just drips off the mirror and down the door and leaves a horrible mess that takes ages to clean off!!

Hopefully someone will know though??
